New Research Article on Adjuncts Teaching Autism Spectrum Students

I co-authored “Collaborative Challenges Between Educational Accessibility Coordinators and Adjunct Faculty in Supporting Autism Spectrum Students” with one of my former students, Dr. Tamara Faure (Farmingdale State College) in the New York Journal of Student Affairs. In this article, we present findings of a qualitative study in which we interviewed educational accessibility coordinators about their experiences working with adjunct faculty who teach courses with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) students. Coordinators believed ASD students struggled to negoiate college environments and adjunct professors were challenging to support because of the nature of their contingent employment. We provide some implications and suggestions for practice related to ASD students and how effectively collaborate with adjunct faculty.
